We're both graduate students in philosophy, and parents of two very young boys. One of our boys, Edmund, has a rare chromosomal disorder called Cri du Chat syndrome. He has an unbalanced translocation, which not only involves a deletion of the short arm of his fifth chromosome, but also includes a duplicated bit of the long arm of his third chromosome. This blog is devoted to our thoughts, philosophical and otherwise, about having a child with Cri du Chat.
